About the project

This website is a literary project consisting of weekly instalments – each approximately 2,000 words long – of a hard sci-fi story set in a fantasy world. The project is open access, but logs on Patreon, Ko-fi and buy me a coffee will be published two weeks in advance to honour those readers who have decided to support the project in any way.

Ghonoris itself is a large rocky planet with an extremely active biosphere, located in the as-yet-uncolonised Menoha Astariesth system, whose name is slowly being replaced by the planet itself.

The world of the story is an attempt to present a universe full of magic, whose civilisations, having broken free from their ancient and modern pasts, have entered an era of space conquest. At the same time, I would like the story itself to be an attempt at hard science fiction, as the physics of this universe is not much different from that of the Known Universe – except for the unusual properties of stars, which give the fragments of matter orbiting around them their own magical order, and perhaps also the unusual properties of trytrit. The world is colonised by humans, krzats, goblins and lizards commonly known as snakes, who, after rising above the gravitational well of their planet, now known only as the Mother, discovered extraordinary artefacts of a civilisation that died out millions of years ago: hyperspace cores. These extremely rare creations, which seem to be the only ones to exist on all three known planes of reality: the physical world, magical spaces and higher networks, made it possible to travel distances that were inaccessible by conventional means. But that is a completely different story, which I hope to have the opportunity to tell someday.
